Maximize Your Productivity This Summer

*Sigh of relief*

Guys, it’s officially summer! Cue the Beach Boys records, funky tan lines and endless bowls of acai, please.

If you’re anything like me, I love this season because it’s a time to relax from the regular busy schedule, and it’s a prime time for us travel bugs to plan a dreamy getaway or two. It’s also a time that’s perfect to work on personal design projects and content curation.

Something I’m also incredibly guilty of during the summer is embracing the sweetness of doing absolutely nothing when I’m off the clock. And it feel wonderful...to rest and renew. In between re-charging and still working full time, summer time can be the perfect opportunity to increase productivity.

Do you have goals and dreams still hanging at the top of your new year’s resolution list? Well, what better time than now to turn those possibilities into realities! Instead of letting lethargy overtake us, here are a couple helpful tips to keep in mind as you look to maximize your efficiency as a creative:

If you haven’t already, create a kick-butt routine for both the everyday and the weekly.

Our favorite leadership guru, John Maxwell says, “You'll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

It’s so true!

Taking the time to craft out a daily routine creates a sense of expectation every morning when we wake up. This rhythmic habit of doing the same steps on a daily basis produces consistency, and ladies, whenever we have consistency in our lives, we find purpose.

I’m not much of a makeup girl, but I recently started applying more than just mascara during the mornings. For the last couple weeks, I’ve organized my bottles and apply them in a routine that I can rely on to help make me feel beautiful and ready to conquer my day. It makes such a difference when I get ready for work because it sets the tone for a successful day where I can accomplish anything and everything I set my mind to.

What does your morning routine look like? Do you have a set ritual throughout the day that is holding you accountable to meet your goals?

The time is now, ladies! Don’t let the summertime get the best out of you. Write out a list of your top goals and aspirations. Then develop that routine that will help you reach those set goals! By doing so, your excitement and level anticipation will help you get through the mundane and maybe not-so-fun days.

Set aside particular places or environments that are dedicated to accomplish your goals or weekly to-do’s.

After clocking out and heading home for the day, I like to completely disconnect and honor my home environment as a place to recharge and regroup. When I was in college, I remember bringing loads of homework to my house and feeling frustrated because of how my work kept me from engaging in intentional moments with my family.

Since then, I’ve tried my best to create work spaces for myself that way my valuable relationships aren’t compromised. Creating this boundary has not only boosted my productivity; but it’s helped me to have a healthy home life.

We make time for what’s most important to us.

Whenever I need to invest time in content creation or writing a new article for a magazine, I love taking a trip to my favorite local coffee shop to set the tone for my “work mode.” What’s your place of productivity? Maybe it’s the Starbucks in your neighborhood or the living room of your home. Find the place where you can bring out the laptop and feel the motivation to get things done.

You’ve got what it takes, my friend! Don’t let this summer pass you by. Make the most of every day to leverage your creativity and to launch your dreams into action. This world needs your innovation and your intellect.
